How to prepare for HIFU session?
What is HIFU?
HIFU or High Intensity Focus Ultrasound is South Korean technology, using intense ultrasound waves to destroy tissue in SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) and stimulate production of collagen and new tissue, leading to face lifting and youth.
Who are HIFU suitable for?
HIFU is suitable for people age 25+ who have problems of sagging skin or excess fat in cheek and wattle area. HIFU is also suitable for those who wish to have V shape face, face lifting, eye brows lifting, and wattle or double chin reduction without surgery.
How long does it take to see HIFU result?
Right after HIFU session, you'll see roughly 10% of the total result and you will see full result within 1 month. Collagen will be stimulated, resulting in smoother skin texture after 3 months.
How long does HIFU last?
HIFU may last from 6-8 months, depending on facial condition of each individual.
How many HIFU shots should be done to see the result?
Amount of HIFU shots varies amongst each person's skin condition.
If you wish for sharper facial frame, at lest 100 shots is required.
For v-shape face, at least 200 shots is required.
For face lifting, at least 400 shots is needed.
After HIFU session, if you feel that the result is not yet satisfied, you can repeat the session after 2 months.
Does HIFU hurt?
The feeling during HIFU session depends on each individual. The area with more fats, such as cheeks, will has less feeling than around the bones area.
Before HIFU, you can choose to apply anesthetic to increase your comfort.
How to prepare yourself for a HIFU session?
HIFU can be performed right away without having to prepare in advance.
How to take care of yourself after a HIFU session?
You can live and put on make up normally after your HIFU session. There might be some redness around the treatment area, which will be gone within 2-3 days. Some might also feel internal swelling. This will get better within 1-2 weeks. During this recovery period, it is suggested that you do your daily activities, such as washing face and brushing teeth, gently.
Why doesn't HIFU work on some people?

Techniques of the operator - The operator should understand face anatomy really well and has been trained with special techniques of facelifting.

Number of shots used - If use not enough shots, then the result might not be as expected or might not last long.
Who should you have your HIFU with?
As there are many hidden muscles and nerves on our faces, it is best to have your HIFU with a practicioner who truly understand facial structure. Therefore, HIFU should be done by doctors or medical technologist only.
